The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has advised us that fictitious cashier's checks drawn on the City National Bank of New Jersey, Newark, New Jersey, are in circulation. A copy of a legitimate instrument and a copy of a counterfeit instrument are attached. If you have any information concerning this matter, please contact the bank by telephone at (201) 624-0865 or by fax at (201) 624-4369.

We also have been informed that official checks drawn on National Bank of Canton (formerly known as Union National Bank), Macomb, Illinois, bearing numbers 049001 through and including 053400 are missing and presumed stolen. A specimen copy is attached. In addition, we have been advised that fictitious cashier's checks drawn on Merchantile Bank, N. A., Brownsville, Texas, are in circulation.
